What Exactly Is Mostly Photography?
Recently I have received a few complaints / requests for a more thorough description of what exactly this Mostly Photography thing is. So without further ado…
What Mostly Photography is about…
The title is pretty self explanatory. It’s about photography, mostly.
Mostly Photography will never be exclusively about photography or photographs for one very simple reason, photography is about more than photographs.
Photography is about “Life, The Universe, and Everything.”
Photography is about experiencing the world around us. Photographs are about sharing that experience with the rest of the world. Photography is information, artistic expression, personal vision, often real, often exaggerated, always powerful. The photograph itself, as a document, has the ability to live forever.
Now on to more pertinent questions…
What this site is about…
This site is about photography in general, individual photographers, artistic theory, technical execution, standards of the medium, industry news, exhibitions, books, movies, websites, thoughts, theories and a healthy dose of simply random things.
You have ads on your site, that’s lame…
I cannot begin to count how many times I have heard this, or some variation of it. Yes there are ads on this site. Why? It’s costs money to buy whiskey. Or in this case, hosting and band-width. Does this site make money? Not even close. It does however pay for itself. If you have a problem with the format or the ads themselves, please contact me with any feedback you may have.
I’ve found a bunch of spelling mistakes and bad grammar…
Those that contribute to this blog are not writers. We are all photographers and artists, which translates to we all did very poorly in school. We try to use spell check, but you know how that goes. You’ll just have to deal with it. Sorry.
Can I contribute something to the site?
Absolutely. I’m always looking for new material. If you have something to add or would like to help in some way, please visit the contributing page or contact me with any ideas.
Again, please use the contact form with any suggestions or feedback.
Most importantly, enjoy.
